Individual and Family Medical Insurance

The Affordable Care Act created the opportunity for everyone to purchase individual health insurance coverage, without concern for health questions or pre-existing conditions.  The annual open enrollment period for this coverage is November 1st to January 15th each year, with benefits beginning January 1st – February 1st.

Typically, this is the time you might want to, or need to make changes to your personal coverage.  There are exceptions that might allow you to apply for coverage outside of this “window”.  They could include;

  • Loss of employer coverage
  • Involuntary loss of coverage
  • Relocation
  • Divorce
  • Marriage
  • Birth
  • Death
